nylon vs polyester flag

American flags are widely fashioned in two main materials: nylon and polyester. They both have their benefits and their weaknesses, and each is best for certain environments and uses.
Nylon is lightweight and glossy. Its texture is slightly rough, and somewhere between fabric and plastic. On the other hand, polyester has a completely matte surface. It looks and feels like cotton, rougher and heavier than nylon and without a hint of shine.
When choosing between a nylon flag and a polyester flag, it is important to consider whether the flag will be outside 24 hours a day, from sunrise to sunset or just on holidays. In general, polyester is a better and more durable choice for more frequently flown flags.

Nylon is lighter than polyester, and therefore flies more easily in areas without high winds. It is a better choice for areas like the suburbs. However, if you live by the sea or in another place with high winds and wet weather, polyester is a better choice.

Come check out the two different materials at American Heritage today. We are located in Creve Coeur on Olive Blvd.

flagpoles

With our large selection of indoor and outdoor flagpoles, American Heritage is your best source for flag poles for residential or commercial locations. We offer only high-quality flag poles made from durable materials engineered to meet wind and vibration criteria. Select an aluminum flag pole complete with all accessories and in your choice of colors, black, bronze, or white for the perfect decorative touch.

If you're looking for an easy, affordable flag pole for your home or business, consider our residential/sectional flag poles or commercial flag poles

Bright, colorful flags flying atop tapered aluminum or fiberglass flag poles dramatically draw the eye wherever they wave - at your residence, institution, school, or social organization. They even serve as landmarks to identify your location.

But that's not all. American Heritage also offers over 150 flagpole accessories -- eagles, ornamental balls, cleats, ropes, brackets, and many more - so you can customize your flagpole in greater detail. Your flag deserves an attractive and attention-getting presentation.

Pearl Harbor

Today is the 75th anniversary of Japan’s surprise attack on Pearl Harbor, which killed more than 2,400 Americans at a naval base in Hawaii.
The day after the attack, President Franklin D. Roosevelt requested Congress to declare war on Japan; Congress accepted his declaration with just one dissenting vote. Three days later, Japanese allies Germany and Italy also declared war on the United States, and again Congress reciprocated. More than two years into the conflict, America had finally joined World War II.
In remembrance of this day, flags will be flown at half staff today.
