St. Louis Arch

On this day in 1965, construction is completed on the Gateway Arch, a spectacular 630-foot-high parabola of stainless steel marking the Jefferson National Expansion Memorial on the waterfront of St. Louis, Missouri.

In addition to the Gateway Arch, the Jefferson Expansion Memorial includes the Museum of Westward Expansion and the Old Courthouse of St. Louis, where two of the famous Dred Scott slavery cases were heard in the 1860s.

Today, some 4 million people visit the park each year to wander its nearly 100 acres, soak up some history and take in the breathtaking views from Saarinen’s gleaming arch.

Veteran's Day

Veteran's Day, a federal holiday that replaced Armistice Day, pays tribute to veterans of the United States military. Held on Nov. 11, Veterans Day is a time to pay tribute to the sacrifice and dedication of American soldiers who've fought for their country in many arenas. The rules for flying the flag on Veterans Day are the same for any other national holiday except Memorial Day.
Which means - fly your flag full staff - with the wind that usually accompanies Fall weather we should have some wonderful colors flying - leaves, flags, and the remaining petals of flowers. Please feel free to stop in and purchase your special veteran a flag made in the United States or an Armed Forces flag for the Branch they served in. We will be open till noon.

Radio Station

American Heritage has teamed up with radio station KFNS 590 AM to support  Breast Cancer awareness.

Beginning on 10/24/2016 to 10/28/2016 between the times of 4PM-6PM, the radio station will do an announcement of American Heritage and Breast Cancer awareness.

Anyone that calls our shop or comes in and mentions the commercials, 15% of sales from those customers will go towards Breast Cancer.

Good Morning.

As some of you may know- I moved over Labor Day weekend. One of the first things I noticed was almost every house has a flag flying. Some on a pole, some in their garden or on their mailbox, and some next to their front door.

Most holidays requiring flags to fly at 1/2 mast for the year have passed, but it's nice to live in a community where flags are flying every day- for no other reason than to say I'm proud to be an American.
