http://www.va.gov/opa/vetsday/vetdayhistory.asp

Monday about 1/2 of America will have the day off work in commemoration of Veterans Day, also known as Armistice Day.

Remember your veteran and those words from President Wilson below:

In November 1919, President Wilson proclaimed November 11 as the first commemoration of Armistice Day with the following words: "To us in America, the reflections of Armistice Day will be filled with solemn pride in the heroism of those who died in the country’s service and with gratitude for the victory, both because of the thing from which it has freed us and because of the opportunity it has given America to show her sympathy with peace and justice in the councils of the nations…"

Take some time to show Veterans and their families across the US your allegiance in America and fly the US flag from American Heritage. We have them available at 11062 Olive Blvd. St Louis, MO. We can ship them out to you over night. Or order online today at www.amheritage.com or www.americanheritagebannersansflags.com or call 888-58-FLAGS.

Remember Patriot Day

Remember Patriot Day

In the United States, Patriot Day and National Day of Service and Remembrance, occurs on September 11 of each year, designated in memory of the 2,977 killed in the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.

U.S. House of Representatives Joint Resolution 71 was approved by a vote of 407–0 on October 25, 2001. It requested that the President designate September 11 of each year as "Patriot Day".

On this day, the President requests that the American flag be flown at half-staff at individual American homes, at the White House, and on all U.S. government buildings and establishments, home and abroad. The President also asks Americans to observe a moment of silence beginning at 8:46 A.M. (Eastern Daylight Time), the time the first plane struck the North Tower of the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001.

He also exhorts Americans to use the Corporation for National and Community Service to find and volunteer for service opportunities.
